The Brief
In response to the RFP, the purpose of the website was to review its target audience and the key goals it needs to achieve (namely increasing brand awareness & assist with fund raising). Luckily there are no specific modules that need to be designed & built, there is only the restriction that it must work within the current wordpress framework they have. Below is my breakdown of the RFP:
Website Review
I start by reviewing the current website compared to the desired metrics listed in the RFP so as to ensure both sides are staying on topic. Usually I would perform a detailed user journey experience to map out design needs but in this case the client is happy with the journey they just want to update the look and feel of the site. The key outcome of this is the content strategy.
Mood Board Proposal
Based on the website review I usually like to come up with a concept for the design (typograpgy/colors/imagery
etc) so as to come up with a visual style that will guide the entire design process and act as base reference
when changes are requested.
Proposed Designs
Keeping in mind that some times when shifting into a CMS environment the design sometimes changes when you hit production, but below are all the proposed designs shared with the client.
Build Considerations
The good old stock or custom debate, but in this case it evaluating whether we need a wordpress site or will a simple clean HTML/CSS/JS site work even more effectively. A good user experience considers both the experience of creation vs. the experience of consumption. Let's discuss all the pros and cons.
